New
-
Grouped sidebar navigation The sidebar is now organised into three collapsible groups — Daily, Focus, and Life — so sections are easier to find and the nav doesn't feel overwhelming. Collapse groups you don't use, or expand them all.
-
Drag-to-pin quick access Drag any section out of its group to pin it directly below Home for instant one-click access. Pin up to three of your most-used sections.
-
Collapsed sidebar flyouts When the sidebar is collapsed to icon-only mode, each group icon opens a flyout menu so every section is still reachable without expanding.
-
Onboarding tour New users are greeted with a guided 5-step spotlight tour after entering their name. Each step highlights a part of the app and explains what it's for. Skip any time.
Improvements
-
Smarter first-run defaults The home screen on first launch shows the sections most likely to be useful right away — check-in, habits, notes, currently enjoying. Focus timer and photos start hidden and can be enabled from Settings.
-
Settings and Dark mode fixed to sidebar bottom Settings and the dark/light toggle are now always visible at the bottom of the sidebar, even when it's scrolled or collapsed.
Fixes
-
Habit notifications firing constantly A date format mismatch meant habit completion was never detected correctly, so the notification fired on every check regardless of whether you'd already done your habits that day. Fixed.
-
Notes card hidden for existing users The home notes card was incorrectly hidden after an update for users who had data from an earlier version. Fixed with a migration guard.
-
Sidebar flash on load The sidebar was briefly rendering in expanded state before snapping to collapsed on load. It now restores the correct state before the first paint.
-
World Cup live score poll leak The 60-second live score poll continued running in the background after the banner was dismissed. It now stops correctly when the banner is hidden.
A polish and personalisation update · more ways to make Gather feel like yours, with a pile of small fixes that make the whole thing feel tighter.
New
-
Countdowns card Add up to 5 events — birthdays, holidays, trips, anything — and see a live countdown on your home screen. Shows days away, "Today!" on the day, and days ago for events that have passed. Manage from Settings → Sections.
-
4 new fonts Nunito, Playfair Display, Josefin Sans, and Source Serif 4 are now available in Settings → Appearance. That's 10 fonts total.
-
New colour palettes Four new palettes: Olive (olive green + muted mustard), Wine (deep burgundy + warm gold), Taupe (warm greige + terracotta), and Accessible Midnight (deep navy + high-contrast amber). Each includes a light and dark variant.
-
Settings sections redesign The Sections tab is now a 2-column grid of cards. Each card's settings live inline within its tile, and toggles sit in the card header. Much easier to scan and manage as features grow.
-
Photo drag affordance A grip handle appears on photo cards on hover, and a highlight ring shows the drop target while dragging. Users can now discover that photos are reorderable.
Improvements
-
World Cup banner adapts to theme The soccer banner now uses a light background in light mode and a dark background in dark mode, matching your active palette instead of always appearing as a dark card.
-
Quick links open correctly Clicking a quick link now opens the URL in your default browser. URLs without a protocol (e.g. google.com) are handled automatically.
-
Quick links readable in dark mode Link buttons now use a light frosted-glass style in dark mode so they're always visible regardless of palette.
-
Custom reminders UX A single section-level toggle now collapses the custom reminders list when turned off, keeping the settings panel tidy. The per-row toggle has been removed.
-
Habits notification time The time picker for habit reminders is now hidden when the notification toggle is off, reducing visual clutter.
Fixes
-
Focus timer jumping The timer was jumping 4–5 seconds per tick due to duplicate setInterval calls stacking up on each start. Fixed by clearing any existing interval before starting a new one.
-
Custom reminder cap The add button was incorrectly allowing up to 8 reminders. The cap is now consistently enforced at 6.
-
Check-in history pruning When the history exceeded 1000 entries, the app was discarding the newest entries and keeping the oldest. Now correctly keeps the most recent 1000.
-
Confirm before destructive actions Deleting a habit, deleting a check-in, and resetting the focus timer now all prompt for confirmation before proceeding.
-
Escape key behaviour Pressing Escape now dismisses font and palette dropdowns, and cancels an in-progress focus name edit without saving.
-
Hero name overflow Long names no longer break the home screen layout · they now truncate with an ellipsis.
Quick access and live moments · pin your most-used links to your home screen and follow the FIFA World Cup 2026 with live score updates, right from your dashboard.
New
-
Quick Links card Add up to 6 bookmarks to a dedicated home screen card. Each link gets an emoji, a name, and a URL · click any tile to open it in your default browser. Set them up in Settings → Sections.
-
⚽ FIFA World Cup 2026 banner A live banner at the top of your home screen shows the next upcoming match with team flags and kickoff time. When a game is in progress it switches to a live score view, updating every 60 seconds. Toggle it on or off in Settings → Profile.
-
Reminders Enable built-in reminders for to-dos and habit check-ins, or create up to 6 custom reminders with your own message and time. Configure everything from Settings → Notifications.
Eight releases across May — from the very first version of Gather through photos, focus timers, habits, colour themes, fonts, recurring tasks, and more. The foundation of everything.
v1.7.0 · Photos
A little gallery of your life · pin photos to your home screen, let them rotate as a full-bleed carousel, and attach the moments that matter to your daily check-ins.
New
Photos home card Add up to 6 photos to a dedicated card on your home dashboard. The photo fills the entire card edge-to-edge. When you have more than one, dots show your position and arrows let you step through them. Click any photo to open it in a fullscreen lightbox. Toggle the card on or off from Settings → Sections.
Check-in photo attachments Attach up to 3 photos to any daily check-in entry. Thumbnails appear inline below your words in both the editor and the history view. Click a thumbnail to open the lightbox. Remove individual photos with the × button on hover.
